STREAMLINE
OUR STORY
Streamline is a productivity app launched in 2018 by four students studying at Brandeis University. What began as a problem of not having a convenient means of transferring notes to a personal calendar has turned into Streamline. Our platform underwent initial testing and development and is continuously being improved.
OUR VISION
Our vision is integrate the functionalities of a to-do list and calendar. This is accomplished by allowing users to seamlessly transfer existing tasks from the to-do list to their calendars without having to manually create new calendar events. Our platform is simple, easy and comprehensive enough for people of all backgrounds and ages. With Streamline, users can link their existing Google Calendar to our platform without having to transfer their events from one calendar to another.
TECHNOLOGY
To bring all the mentioned functionality together in one simple package was not as simple as the platform may look. This involved the integration of multiple API’s, front-end manipulation using CSS and JavaScript and syncing API’s with our backend. Below is a list
of all the technologies we used beyond the standard Ruby tutorials. Afterwards, we will discuss how each of these technologies was used.
HOW IT WORKS
S
Simple
01
With Streamline, we wanted to take things back to basics. With an easy to use notepad and a clean and minimal calendar, our UI offers an organic experience without a learning curve.
02
Fluid
Streamline’s platform provides a fast and easy infrastructure to convert tasks to calendar events. By enabling the user to drag and drop tasks to their calendar, Streamline eliminates the time required for scheduling tasks, allowing them to be taken on the go.
03
Smart
One of our key priorities with Streamline was to simplify the front end as much as possible and still offer a highly functional productivity platform. This meant that the backend of our app must pull most of the technical weight and the front end must be as minimal and self-explanatory as possible.
